Senior Sunday – The St. Louis Senior Dog Project

This weeks Senior Sunday post focus’ on the St. Louis Senior Dog Project in St. Louis, Missouri.

From the St. Louis Senior Dog Project website

The St. Louis Senior Dog Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the state of Missouri. We are an all volunteer organization that rescues dogs of all ages but especially dogs 5-years of age and older.

We actively promote the adoption of older dogs. We spay/neuter all dogs, bring them up to date with shots, worming, microchipping and heartworm prevention. We provide our dogs with all necessary veterinary care, including treatment for such things as heartworm disease, kennel cough, pneumonia, intestinal parasites, urinary tract infections, fleas and ticks, and dental care.

Our regular adoption events are held at the Kirkwood Petco every 2nd and 4th Saturday 11AM and 3PM.  We always have many dogs present to come and see, and even more online!

Seniors have a lot to offer, we just need to be willing to watch, listen, and learn… (Divinity’s Dad, 2012)

Note: Please share this post on your social media so that others can learn about these wonderful senior dogs. It’s the only way to spread the word about these seniors who need homes.

Rebel is a 13 year old back Labrador retriever who is looking for a retirement home where he can put his napping and snugging skills to good use. He is housebroken, good in the car and good on lead. This very sweet 90 lb dog just likes to hang out with his humans. Rebel is neutered, microchipped, and up to date with shots.

Rosebud & Pixie

Rosebud & Pixie

Rosebud & Pixie are a bonded pair of senior dachshund/Terrier ladies. Rosebud weighs 6.5 lbs and is 11 years old. Pixie is 9 lbs and 10 years old. Both walk well on lead and are not your typical senior citizens. They are still plenty active and playful. Both come spayed, microchipped and up to date with shots. They have also had their teeth cleaned.

Georgie & Frederick

Georgie & Frederick

Georgie & Frederick are sweet little Bichon boys that must be adopted together. These boys came from a wonderful home where their family could no longer keep them. Georgie is 13 years old and 22 lbs in great health and acts younger, and Frederick is 3 years old and 17 lbs. Both have been around kids and other dogs and do excellent. They have been very well socialized. The boys like to go for walks and would prefer a fenced yard, but that’s not a deal breaker for the right home. They are house trained, have great manners, love to play once in a while and are total love bugs !
